Painting Bog Plants in Watercolor & Ink - Workshop at Cranberry Mountain Nature Center, WV
Welcome to the beautifully bizarre world of pitcher plants, sundew, and rare orchids! In this relaxing, beginner-friendly workshop, we'll take a closer look at a variety of bog plants as we learn to draw and paint them from reference photos. Skills gained include sketching proportionally, ink line drawing techniques, mixing watercolor paints, and achieving contrast and vibrancy using layers. Ages 10+ with adult, 15 person capacity. From Idea to Publication: A Practical Approach to Make It Happen. In this presentation, Rosalie will share a behind-the-scenes look at how she created her most recent illustrated book, Tiny Worlds of the Appalachian Mountains: An Artist's Journey. She'll explain the initial inspiration for the project, her approach to finding the right publisher, the grants and other income streams that she pieced together to cover expenses during her 6-month research trip, how she connected with biologists to help inform her writing, and how she stayed motivated throughout the 3-year process.
